Annapurna Circuit Trekking- This trek people know as Round Annapurna and ACT. The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most popular and rewarding trekking routes in Nepal. Along with the physical adventure, trekkers can enjoy mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and experience the rich local civilization and culture. The unique geography and cultural diversity of the Annapurna region have fascinated and captivated countless trekkers from around the world.
During the trek, one can observe a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as indigenous cultures that are deeply rooted in the Himalayan lifestyle. The breathtaking mountain views are truly unforgettable. Some of the prominent peaks visible on this trek include Manaslu (8,163m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Gangapurna (7,454m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Thorong Peak (6,144m), Thapa Peak (6,012m), Chulu East (6,584m) and West (6,419m), Pisang Peak (6,091m), and Tilicho Peak (7,134m), among many others. These stunning mountains continue to draw trekkers with their magnetic beauty. The region is not only home to these majestic peaks, but also to significant natural and cultural landmarks. It hosts the world’s highest lake (Tilicho Lake), the world’s deepest gorge (Kali Gandaki Gorge), and the largest rhododendron forest. The Annapurna Conservation Area is one of the most important trekking regions in Nepal, offering an ever-changing landscape that keeps the journey exciting and fulfilling.
Beautiful rivers, serene waterfalls, and a clean, peaceful environment add to the tranquil experience of the trek. Wildlife enthusiasts may even spot animals such as blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, and—on rare occasions—the elusive snow leopard. The presence of colorful birds and diverse vegetation makes the journey even more delightful.Key stops along the trail include Besisahar, Chame, Manang, the Thorong-La Pass, Muktinath, Kagbeni, and Jomsom. Each of these places offers its own unique charm. Trekkers will encounter ethnic communities such as the Gurung, Thakali, and others, each with their own distinct culture, architecture, and traditions. Along the way, there are numerous monasteries, chhortens, temples, and sacred caves that add to the spiritual richness of the experience. These Buddhist and Hindu sites reflect a beautiful harmony of religious beliefs.
After crossing the Thorong-La Pass (5,416m above sea level), trekkers enter the Mustang region. Here lies the sacred Muktinath Temple, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. It stands as a symbol of religious tolerance and unity. Mustang itself, a cold desert region, is known for its mystique and unique geography. Upper Mustang, close to the Chinese border, is a restricted and protected area due to its cultural and strategic significance.Another important religious site is Damodar Kund, located in Mustang. It is believed to be the origin of the sacred Shaligram stones—fossilized ammonites found in black rocks, which are considered manifestations of Lord Vishnu by Hindus. These fossils are also evidence of ancient marine life, supporting the belief that life once existed here during the Stone Age.
Tilicho Lake: A Hidden Gem of the Himalayas
Nestled at an altitude of 4,919 meters, Tilicho Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and a breathtaking jewel of the Annapurna region. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, this glacial lake offers a surreal blend of turquoise waters and rugged mountain beauty. A must-visit for trekkers and adventure seekers, Tilicho is not just a destination—it’s an unforgettable journey through the heart of Nepal’s high Himalayas
Before returning to Kathmandu to conclude the trip, we explored the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. This vibrant city, surrounded by mountains and lakes, served as the perfect end to an unforgettable journey through the Annapurna region.
